Concept Note:
“The disciplines are where we begin, but not where we end.” — Allen F. Repko
Contemporary English Studies has witnessed a growing shift in rethinking and reimagining literature through interdisciplinary dialogue, new methodological innovations, and evolving cultural realities worldwide. Literary Studies today have moved beyond fixed boundaries and strict disciplinary divides and engage with interdisciplinary fields such as History, Sociology, Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, Indian Knowledge Systems, Trauma Studies, Digital Humanities, Dalit Studies, Media and Film studies, as well as Political Science, and Environmental Humanities, to name a few. This interdisciplinary engagement between literature and other disciplines of knowledge continues to reshape modern English Studies. Approaches to studying literature in the 21st century are changing rapidly with technological advancements, globalization, and shifting cultural paradigms. Such transitions bring new ways of reimagining the future scopes of English studies. Keeping these shifts in mind, this special issue titled “Reimagining English Studies: Literature, Culture and Interdisciplinary Humanities” of The Golden Line invites original and unpublished research articles.
